What's the best learning software?

Take a serious look at Playpro’s Interactive Guitar. It’s very comprehensive. eMedia is good if you want to learn strumming and syncopation (accenting certain beats). Interactive Guitar is more of a complete course with lead, rhythm and music theory all included. It also recommends hooking your guitar to the computer and it will grade your performances with their Comp-U-Pare technology.

I’m looking for some beginner level educational/training software for guitar, to sort of "tide me over" until I can afford to get lessons. I’ve seen the eMedia Guitar Method 1 mentioned on this and other newsgroups. What would you recommend? TIA.

I’d highly recommend eMedia Guitar Method 1 (ver 2) but maybe you’ve seen me post the same comments elsewhere. I looked at Voyetra’s Teach Me Guitar Deluxe and it wasn’t nearly as good. It wasn’t bad but it just doesn’t have as much material as the eMedia course does, not nearly actually. I saw a write up for Guitar Coach on Amazon.com from a happy user but I haven’t seen it for myself so I don’t know if it’s better or as good as the eMedia course. Still, eMedia covers all the basics very nicely in the first course and does so in a fun interactive way that I think most beginners would enjoy and benefit from. I liked it enough to get it for my daughter who wants to learn to play. Have a look at the demo for it if you haven’t already at: www.emedia.org Michael
