Bought a Westy SG copy for my son for Xmas. It doesn’t compare too well to an Epi. Compared to a Vintage, it is not too shabby. The pups seem loose, fit + finish is not brilliant, but it is -not- firewood. Actually very playable with a pleasant neck profile, reasonable sound. The tuners keep it pretty much in tune too. As a beginners guitar, I reckon it represented very good value for money as it is playable and not vile. However…Crank the volume up and the pups come unstuck somewhat on anything other than clean. Add a drive pedal to the equation and it sounds like ‘The Jesus And Mary Chain’, and not in a good way, whereas a Vintage sounds lovely and crunchy. In short, a reasonable guitar for the money. This applies only to my experience of dicking about with my sons Westfield SG copy and comparing it to my Vintage SG copy and an Epi SG400. Not hopeless. Try harmony central. — ?
