i second the "Wish you were here" solo by pink floyd…..great song, and fairly easy too. It was the first solo i learned (i was given it about a week after i first picked up the guitar).. and it looked like it was something Malmsteen or Vai would do (well thats what it looked like to me ^_^)…but once you get it, you’ll feel like the king…and it sounds so much better with the rythm section in the background..so try to get someone to play it after you know the solo pretty good.

Nirvana did a good cover of Bowie’s ‘The Man Who Sold The World’ on MTV Unplugged in 1993. I like the song and find the solo sounds good, despite being quite simple to play.

Try American Woman by The Guess Who, or anything by Pink Floyd.  Bringin’ on the Heartache by Def Leppard.  Much of Creedance Clearwater Revival.  Most of what i have listed is easy to get started with.  Don’t let that fool you though, because there is a lot of nuance in almost all music that has run the gamut of getting published.  Contrary to what some would believe, you do not get that far without being very good.  So even though you get the notes down go back listen close work more catch the little string bends, vibrato, mutes etc.  Good luck

Hi, I’ve been getting back to playing my guitar from picking songs from tabs and practicing them.  I really want to start playing some solos (so far I’ve only done finger picking and chords).  What are some good songs with simple solos that I can learn?  I prefer something bluesy and relatively slow that can sound good without a plethora of fancy effects. Acoustic or electric? For electric, try "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton For acoustic, try the solo in "Black Water" by the Doobie Brothers.  It’s a call and response thing with a violin, but sounds OK on it’s own.  There are two parts that sound difficult but aren’t really…a series of triplets using a pulloff to the open E string, and a phrase of double stops.  They’re easy, and they sound so cool you’ll be psyched when you’ve learned them. Hope this helps. — Michael Pugh

Try to learn Wish you were here solo. It took me a week but now it look very cool when you combine it with rythm guitar. Of course if you are playing accustic.
