Paul, CCR is great for beginners. On top of that, their songs are still popular for singing around campfires etc. Lyrics, chords and tabs are easily available on the internet. The group also has 2 cds of their most popular songs. The cds are well filled because they have over 20 songs on each cd. Print the lyrics and the chords and have copies for people who want to sing along with you. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> HI, > I am very new to playing guitar and was wondering who wrote the best songs > for us newbies. Gee, do I detect a Lightfoot fan there? But I probably wouldn’t have picked those two songs as his easiest – maybe Early Mornin’ Rain? I still can’t play IYCRMM very well, but I am probably the slowest beginner of all time. I started with two Travis picked songs and I am still working on them. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > American pie > If You Could Read My Mind > Danny’s Song > Blowin’ in the Wind > Peaceful, Easy Feeling > Old Man > Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald > Lyin’ Eyes > Mike Mc. > HI, > I am very new to playing guitar and was wondering who wrote the best songs > for us newbies. It all depends on what kind of music you like. Me? I would have to say its those old campfire songs to strum along to. Seems nobody really likes them but we all know the melodies. Theres books that tell you, you can learn guitar in ten minutes, and then have you strumming Skip to my Lou using just a C and G7 chords, and not playing the bass strings. Nothing could be easier, and for a brand newbie who never even held a guitar its a confidence builder. Eric
