What guitar?
Question:
Agreed, I like the look and image of strats but find them horribly thin sounding and the necks a tad long. I love the warm, thick, rich one sound of Gibsons (studios versions and some of the tree-friendly models are in the price range mentioned). The Santana PRS SE seems like a nice guitar for around $399-$599 depending on where you buy and if you can find a sale (now might be a good time) — hard tail or tremolo version. The Yahama Pacifica is supposed to be an excellent guitar for about half the price indicated below ( $199-$299) — most reviews seem to rate them as good as guitars twice the price (let’s face it, it is pretty easy to find a decent guitar under $300 these days and something special under $600).

Well it seems from your choices you like the strat style, for me it’s too bright in places, you can movt to a bridge HB but I think it’s all a matter of choice. For the money your looking to spend I would look for a nice LP Studio save the extra because good amps are not cheap..

It really depends on you and your style of playing. I personally would suggest a Fender Stratocaster American Series for a budget like yours, they sound great, they feel great, and they are a trusted and well-established company. For a lower price, try the standard series, they are made in mexico, so they are cheaper, and of course not as good, (abiet good enough) as the American Series. So, in summation, go for a Fender.

for sort of grunge, dirty sound, the Ibanez would work the best http://www.qksrv.net/click-613087-1110163 fender and gibson info
