Question:
"In phase" is accomplished by just swapping the leads the other way around by the way. If you like the sound for sometimes you can have the technician put in a switch to change the phase — Lon Smith In an effort to keep down spam please send replies to lonsmsmith at att dot net

Whoever installed it got it out-of-phase. The "no bassiness" clue says it all. If you want to swap for normal sound (but less harmonics), have it rewired so it’s in-phase with the other pickup – a ten minute fix for a good tech. Ok, I no longer consider myself a beginner, and my presence here ( in alt.guitar.beginner) is usually to answer questions, but I’ve got one now: K, I replaced my bridge pickup in my Epiphone LP with a Seymour Duncan ‘59. Now, I don’t know how pro the guy who installed it is at wiring, but now whenever I select the ‘both’ setting’ on my pickup switch, it sounds much less bassy and much weaker, but the harmonics are incredible. I know NOTHING about hardware, so perhaps someone who knows more than nothing about it can help me with my wquestion. Why does this happen? Are harmonics always this sensitive on multi-pickup settings, (seems to make sense, but I dunno) or it the wiring just messed up. I am not going to change it; I love it, but what’s the deal? Why does it sound so unbassy? Harmonics absolutely squeal like I have never heard on ANY guitar before. Once again, I know NOTHING about how hardware works, and I just am curious to hear if this is normal. On my other guitars ( including my Strat and my ‘78 Gibson LP [which also has a '59 in the bridge]) this does not happen. is there any way to get substance in my tone plus the psycho harmonics or no?
